During my time at both colleges, I have grown as a person, as a social worker and most importantly as an instructor. I have encountered tasks that were both challenging and rewarding. I have excelled in this position and my ability to reach and enrich my students has become one of my greatest accomplishments. I teach my course with great originality and creativity. I put great focus on the sociological perspective. I want my students to see how sociology plays a role in their life. By using a hands-on approach, my students understand how this is not just another course; this is a topic in our daily lives. As individuals, we want to understand who we are and our place in this world, as well as how we fit into the changing world around us. I have dedicated my life and my profession to helping others. My social work qualities have benefitted my students as well. I encourage my students to “Be the change they want to see in the world.” It is something I feel very strongly about and it is something I am meant to do. Along with my compassion and desire to influence and teach others, I possess many other personal and professional qualities that will benefit this position. As one of my students told me, “you love what you teach and that makes us love it too.”
