Private tutor in Holbrook, NY

Education

*Please note that although I listed Holbrook as my primary residence, I also live in Wading River part-time so if you are closer to that area we can work something out* I graduated from Ward Melville High School with a Regents diploma and several music achievement awards. I am now an Honor Roll / Dean List Distinguished student at Five Towns College studying Music Education for the last 3 years maintaining a 3.5 GPA. Therefore, out of all the subjects I listed my preferred subjects to tutor would be Music Theory and Piano. However, I feel that I am qualified to teach the English and History areas I listed because I always kept a 4.0 average in those courses all through my Jr. High and High School years. I scored highly on the following State Tests in those subject areas receiving: -98 on my Global History Regents -96 on my English Regents -96 on my U.S. History Regents

Experience

Although I haven't had any prior experience as a tutor I feel I am uniquely suited for the position because of the many leadership roles I have had in my life. I was treasurer in my HS Student Government where managed the class of 2011s funds and allocated them as necessary and served over a 130 hours between SG and my involvement in the Tri-M Music Honors Society which I was able to join because of my performance as a member in various school music groups as a pianist and singer. I started private piano lessons at age 11 receiving 6 years of private instruction, and had private singing lessons for the past 4 years, I performed in the NYSSMA festival numerous times through the years, and was a member of the Suffolk County Division of the All County Chorus. Relevant course work: Economics, World History I and II, American History, Golden Age of Jazz History, American Popular Music History, Various Music Theory Classes, 9th Grade Honors English, 10th Grade Honors English, 11th Grade Honors English, Journalism, College English Composition, Literacy in Schools, Music Composition, Band and Orchestral Arranging, Jazz Ensemble, Concert Choir, Barbershop Harmony, etc. I have always wanted to teach that is why I am pursuing a Music Education certification. I love to help others and have a never ending passion and lust for learning. i have a very patient caring and supportive attitude and will never let your child feel like a failure there is always room for improvement! :)

Hobbies

I enjoy reading new and interesting novels in my spare time which helps me to stay up to snuff with grammar and comprehension skills. I especially love to read fantasy and fiction, classics, biographies and memoirs. A few of my favorites are Farenheight 451, The Outsiders, Harry Potter, The Hunger Games, The Watchers, etc. I am a huge movies buff and am an avid fan of Star Wars, Lord of the Rings, and Forrest Gump to name a few. I spend a lot of time on my own song writing and composing pursuits and write pieces with orchestras and film scores in mind. I can get along with anybody :)
